Launch of the new Sustainable Chemistry degree programme
21 Oct 2024 | 6:24 pm
At the start of the winter semester 2024/25, the new English-language Bachelor's degree programme "Sustainable Chemistry" began its lectures at BUW. As the name suggests, the degree programme teaches comprehensive knowledge and skills in the field of sustainability.
Whether mobile phones, clothing, household or cosmetic products - they are all based on chemical syntheses and catalytic processes. Sustainability is a topic that affects practically all areas of life. In the new Bachelor's degree course in Sustainable Chemistry, students learn to evaluate and optimise chemical syntheses and processes in order to contribute to the development of a sustainable society and industry.
The first students on the new degree programme include Lorrane Katherine Martins Pereira (from Brazil), Oumaïma Meziane (from Morocco) and Aldo Mauricio Poblete Varas (from Chile). They all have previous experience of studying and working in their home countries and have learnt English in Ireland, for example, or previously spent a year learning German. Our new students confirm that they are facing some challenges. However, they were already able to gain a good impression of BUW during the Welcome Week and the first "real" week of lectures. Now they are looking forward to discovering all the new, exciting and thrilling insights and experiences that their Sustainable Chemistry degree programme will bring.
We are delighted to welcome our Sustainable Chemistry students to BUW and wish them lots of fun and success for their studies!
